Civil Appeals

An appeal provides an opportunity to challenge certain trial court decisions or defend a judgment against claims of error. Gibson Trial Law handles civil appeals on a range of matters. We examine the trial record and relevant authorities to identify the issues that matter most to the outcome.

Interlocutory Appeals

Certain trial court orders may be subject to appellate review before a case reaches final judgment. Gibson Trial Law represents clients pursuing or responding to interlocutory appeals, evaluating whether review is available and how it may affect the underlying litigation. We work with clients and trial counsel to address critical rulings while accounting for the case’s broader strategy.

Mandamus Proceedings

Some trial court rulings may warrant a request for extraordinary relief when an ordinary appeal does not provide an adequate remedy. Gibson Trial Law represents clients seeking or opposing mandamus relief in civil matters. We assess the ruling, the available record, and the requirements for relief to develop a focused petition or response.

Post-Judgment Motions

The period following judgment can be critical to preserving issues and positioning a case for appellate review. Gibson Trial Law assists with motions for new trial, motions to modify or correct a judgment, and other appropriate post-judgment requests. We evaluate potential grounds for relief and applicable deadlines to help clients protect their options.

Appellate Briefing and Oral Argument

Effective appellate advocacy explains both the claimed error and why it matters under the governing standard of review. Gibson Trial Law prepares briefs that connect the record to the controlling legal principles and address the strongest opposing arguments. When oral argument is warranted, we thoroughly prepare to answer the court’s questions directly and reinforce the central reasons supporting our client.
